Benefits of a Husqvarna Lawn Tractor

Is your yard too big for a walk behind mower?  If so, believe it or not, Do-Cut Sales & Service still sells Husqvarna lawn tractors!  Lawn tractors are the perfect solution for just about any size yard, even a small one.  

• A Husqvarna lawn tractor drives just like a car - it has a steering wheel, a foot pedal for forward motion, another foot pedal for reverse, and a lever to adjust the height of the mowing deck.
• Lawn tractors have operator safety features too.  If you should fall off the lawn tractor before disengaging the mower deck, the lawn tractor will automatically shut off – there is a switch in the seat that engages when the operator is seated.  There is also a key position if you want your lawn tractor to mow in reverse – this is a safety feature to remind the tractor operator to always check their surroundings for children or obstacles near the tractor.
• Some lawn tractor models even have cruise control, so you don’t have to keep your foot on the gas!  
• Do-Cut has lawn tractors in stock ranging from 18.5HP up to 24HP.  Single cylinder and twin cylinder models are available.
• Lawn tractor models start with a 42” cutting deck and go up to 54”.  There are different gauges of steel used on lawn tractor cutting decks.  If you have a rough yard, you will want a heavier gauge so the lawn tractor deck lasts longer, and can withstand a little more wear and tear.  
• Most lawn tractor units can also take a bagger attachment.  Typically, the bagger is a 2-bag unit, but for larger lawn tractor decks there are also 3 bag units. Capacity is 6 or 9 bushels respectively.  The tractor bags can be easily removed to dump the grass clippings into a garbage bag if you have to put your clippings at the curb. You can also back into the woods with your lawn tractor, remove the bags and dump the clippings there.
• There are also mulch kits available for most lawn tractor decks.  This allows your lawn tractor to mulch the grass clippings rather than discharge them from the side chute.  Remember, when using your lawn tractor to mulch clippings, you need to always cut the lawn in full throttle. It is best to not cut more than 1/3 of the growth. You will need to raise the lawn tractor deck with the lever (mentioned previously) to adjust for the moisture content of the grass. 

Maintenance Tips for Your Lawn Tractor

Keep the tractor blades very sharp, and keep the undercarriage of the tractor deck very clean.  During the spring months, grass will accumulate under the tractor deck.  Most tractor decks have a washout port located on top of the deck.  When utilizing the tractor washout port, you should hook up your garden hose to the port, sit on the lawn tractor, start it, and start the blades spinning.  Once the lawn tractor deck is clean, disconnect the water and start the lawn tractor and blades again to blow out all the water from beneath the lawn tractor deck.  Please note, this will make a mess on your driveway, so run the lawn tractor on your grass.  You can also scrape under the mower deck to clean it.  When performing any cleaning or maintenance on your lawn tractor, be sure to wear proper eye protection, gloves, and protective clothing and shoes.

• Front blades are also available for your lawn tractor.  This blade will allow your tractor to push dirt or snow.
• A lawn tractor will usually have an hour meter, which is used as a reminder to perform maintenance on your tractor.  Larger tractors have voltage meters, keeping you informed of the battery’s charge.
